美国社会工作Social work和社会学sociology 的区别

一说到social work，很多人立刻联想到社会学，觉得两者差不多。在中国，社会工作系也多数隶属于社会学系。其实，这样的学科设置并不合理，也体现出中国social work学科发展的滞后。在美国，每个学校都是独立成为学院的（我遇见的唯一例外是syracuse，设在College of health profession下面）。

从宏观来说，social work 研究的问题很多要借助社会学，政治学和经济学的知识，而微观上主要就是心理学的衍申和应用。社会工作理论里一个很重要的流派就是从心理学里转移过来，在社会工作的发展史上的意义非同寻常。

我在最初对它的概念很模糊，于是我在email中问winsconsin的教授，social work和sociology有什么不同。他很耐心解答我这个bt问题，现在看来让我很感动。以下是他的回答。

“You raise an interesting question about the differences between sociology and social work.  The typical answer, incomplete though it is, is that sociology is the study of societal issues and dynamics; it forms part of the basic scientific foundation for social work.  Social work takes this scientific foundation (from sociology, psychology, economics, public policy, etc., etc.) and applies it to solve social problems.  This is a fuzzy
distinction, though, because social work researchers do basic social science research, and some sociologists work with actual people to help them with their problems.”

所以说，social work是一门综合的学科，也是独立的专业。
